June 4, 2026
On 2 June, the Faculty successfully hosted the 2026 Symposium on Autophagy, Ageing, Cancer and Neurodegenerative Diseases: From Physiology and Pathology to Therapeutic Potential of Chinese Medicine.
The event brought together 12 distinguished scholars from Europe, North America, mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges on the latest academic advances, cutting-edge technologies and research findings across the fields of autophagy, ageing, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, and shared their valuable professional insights and expertise.
Centred on the core theme of autophagy, the symposium delved into its pivotal roles in cellular senescence, tumorigenesis and neurodegenerative diseases. A key focus was the integration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) wisdom with modern medical science: participants explored how autophagy modulation can serve as a strategic entry point to generate innovative solutions for delaying ageing, treating cancer and managing neurodegenerative conditions.
This symposium not only fostered in-depth interdisciplinary exchange, but also advanced the synergistic development of scientific research and clinical application. It further provided early-career researchers with invaluable learning opportunities and helped broaden their international research horizons.
The Faculty hereby extends its sincere gratitude to all supporting organisations for their generous contributions, which were instrumental to the resounding success of this academic event. Our thanks go to the Tong Xin Fund Institute of Chinese Medicine for Ageing Diseases of Hong Kong Baptist University, the Ko Chi Ming & Mrs. Ko Parkinson’s Disease Research Centre, the Jinwei Medical Neuroregeneration Research Centre, the Office of Research and Development of Hong Kong Baptist University, and Health Workshop (Group) Limited.
